| Salve a tutti...!!!
Il grande Jimmy Sierra chiede aiuto a tutti noi...
Forse non tutti sanno che il vero cognome di Jimmy non è Sierra (questo è un nomignolo) ma è NORMANDI.
La sua famiglia ha origini siciliane e più precisamente di Siracusa.
Sono anni che Jimmy sta cercando qualche suo parente italiano senza purtroppo riuscirvi..
io mi sono preso a cuore questo suo desiderio in quanto Jimmy inizia ad avere un'età sostanziosa e mi ha espresso
la volontà di poter coronare questo suo desiderio prima di passare a miglior vita.
Da parte mia sono mesi che sto cercando sul web ed anche per altre vie...
Su facebook ho trovato un paio di tracce alle quali ho mandato dei messaggi ma non ho ricevuto risposte..
ho addirittura scritto ad una scuola di Roma che sembrava fosse frequentata da una certa Margherita Normandi
ma anche la scuola non mi ha risposto...
Allora dopo tanti tentativi andati a vuoto ho pensato al nostro grande forum...
Ho pensato che NON TUTTE LE PERSONE DEL MONDO LASCIANO TRACCE SU INTERNET ma queste persone
potrebbero essere conosciute da uno di noi che le potrebbe informare che un suo lontano parente li sta
cercando dalla Florida...
Questa è la mail che mi ha mandato Jimmy:
"Hello Ario,
I am very excited that you might be able to find out something or someone who might share my name. I have tried for years to trace back my heritage to Sicily. I never doubted my father's heritage till he died and then I have never been able to prove his birthplace or possible relatives . I would very much like to trace his family before I am gone. My father, according to his stories, was born in 1887 in Siracusa, Sicily. He went by Anthony Ladero Normandi. However, to confuse matters, In 1918 when he joined the US Army to go to France in WW I , he changed his enlisting name to Norman L. Normand. So Army records are incorrect. However, when he got home after the war, he changed it back to his real name.
I tried researching it here in the US through various web sites, but could find no mention of anyone by that name ever coming into the USA around the time he always said he immigrated into New York. His mother died at childbirth. Her name was Amy Gaimicherie ( I Am not sure of the spelling) His father was killed in a train wreck and he was sent to New York to live with an uncle. He said his name was Henry Normandi. My father was about 4 years old. I did find someone who travelled to NY through Ellis Island named Antonio Normando ( sounds close) but the dates are not exact. Records say he traveled with a mother and another son. This doesnt sound like him, but it is the closest name to my father's name.
My son Jim, traveled to Syracusa in 1985 but could find no record of any Normandi in churches or cemeteries and traveled around Italy and never found anyone with the spelling in any phone book anywhere.
We never doubted his stories, but I sure wish I could trace him back to any family history. I guess I am spoiled, as my mother's family came from Cevio , Ticino in the Valle Maggia in Switzerland. We visited there about 20 years ago and there were still a few members of the family still living. The original house was built in the early 1600s. The family name is Traversi and there are plenty of them around in the USA and Switzerland as well as Australia. My grandfather came to the USA in the late 1800s."
Quindi ragazzi.... siamo in tanti... anzi tantissimi ed a nostra volta conosciamo tantissime persone
mettiamoci in moto... cerchiamo, chiediamo, indaghiamo... tra amici, parenti, vicini ed ovunque si possa cercare
traccia di una persona di un nome... e non soltanto in Sicilia... ma in tutta Italia... come avrete letto la sua famiglia
è molto antica e potrebbe essersi spostata in qualsiasi parte d'Italia....
Quindi la parola d'ordine è CERCARE NORMANDI
Sono convinto che ce la faremo...!!!
Facciamolo per Jimmy che ha dedicato una vita al nostro bellissimo hobby ed ha contribuito in maniera determinante
allo sviluppo ed alla progettazione dei metals della White's... senza contare che ci ha promesso che nei prossimi
modelli della white's farà inserire anche il menù in italiano....!!!
Tutto sommato glielo dobbiamo dai...!!!!
